IWO JIMA FLAG RAISING
Franklin R. Sousley, was a Frigidaire employee. He joined the US Marine Corp. He gained fame, unknowingly, at Iwo Jima. Franklin was one of six Marines who raised the flag at Mount Suribachi on Friday, February 23, 1945.
Watch the video on the link above. Young Franklin was second from left in the raising of the flag.
Tragically, on Wednesday March 21, 1945, he was killed in action on another island.
